From 1990 until the present I have been using the arena of day-to-day-life to explore theoretical and social issues within a personal framework using my own designs for living structures, utensils and even vehicles. Perhaps some of the most personally engaging experiments have been those that involved the creation of my daily apparel. In retrospect, some of these experiments were quite simple; the discovery that wearing silk pajamas 24 hours a day thoroughly integrated the public and private functions of living in my showroom/testing grounds called "THE A/Z". Others were more difficult, but surprisingly liberating: for the four-year experiment that coincided with living in the "A-Z Living Units" I wore the same uniform exclusively for six-month sessions.
