Andrea Zittel

Andrea Zittel was born in Escondido, California in 1965. She studied at Rhode Island School of Design, Providence, and San Diego State University, California. Currently part of Andrea Zittel and Monika Sosnowska, Schaulager, Basel, Switzerland, she has exhibited widely throughout Europe and the US. Museum solo shows in recent years include Andrea Zittel: Small Liberties, Whitney Museum of American Art, New York, 2006, and Andrea Zittel: Critical Space, Contemporary Arts Museum, Houston, 2005, travelling across the US. In 1997 she was included in Skulptur Projekte , Landesmuseum Muenster, Germany, as well as Documenta X. She has participated in the Whitney Biennial twice, in 1995 and 2004. A catalogue featuring the artist’s work, Andrea Zittel: Gouaches and Illustrations, was published in July 2008 by Steidl Verlag. She lives and works in Los Angeles and Joshua Tree, California.
