Matthew Barney
Matthew Barney was born in 1967 in San Francisco, California, and studied art at Yale University, New Haven, Connecticut. He has had numerous solo exhibitions across the world, including at the Kunsthalle Wien, Vienna, in 2008, and the Serpentine Gallery, London, 2007. He has been included in group exhibitions worldwide such as Mythos: Joseph Beuys, Matthew Barney, Douglas Gordon, Cy Twombly, at Kunsthaus Bregenz, Bregenz, Austria, 2007, and all in the present must be transformed: Matthew Barney and Joseph Beuys, Deutsche Guggenheim, Berlin, 2006. Matthew Barney: DRAWING RESTRAINT Volume 4, published in 2004 by JMc & GHB Editions, New York, is the most recent part of Barney’s Drawing Restraint series, the first volume of which was published in 2005. The artist lives and works in New York.
