FRAC Champagne-Ardenne, Reims
28 March - 18 May 2025
The FRAC Champagne-Ardenne is pleased to present the exhibition This Transition Will Never End. Following Once Upon a Time (2022), In a Distant Land (2023), and New Acquisitions (2024), this final chapter highlights a selection of works recently acquired by the FRAC.
The prospecting work carried out by the two successive acquisitions committees from 2018 to 2024 resulted in the inclusion of 193 works, representing 89 artists, including 58 women and 29 nationalities. The international and varied profiles that made up these committees ensured a balanced representation of artists and the effort to build a gender-balanced and decentralized collection.
This Transition Will Never End takes its title from the work of Jeremy Shaw, which opens the exhibition. This phrase, evocative of change, also marks a passing of the baton between two directors, Marie Griffay and Bérénice Saliou, who will continue, along with the team, the development, conservation, and dissemination of a public collection rich in more than forty years of history. Offering a review of seven years of acquisitions before a new artistic direction, this exhibition presents works exhibited for the first time at the FRAC, in a unique dialogue.
