Florian Hecker: Halluzination, Perspektive, Synthese is a retrospective catalogue accompanying the eponymous exhibition at Kunsthalle Wien in 2017. The exhibition, comprised a multi-channel synthetic sound installation, Resynthese FAVN, designed to subliminally override the mechanical processes of human senses; creating an intervention into the psychoacoustics of the audience. The publication features catalogue essays by curators, researchers, theorists and art historians on Hecker's practice, along with illustrations of the sound installation, rendered via a series of tensor acoustic measurements, resembling the colorized impressions of thermal imaging. The catalogue concludes with a 270 page sequence of densely sprawling data tables abstracting sound and its textures into text.
