Artist Talk and Screening: Sarah Lucas and Julian Simmons

Museum of Contemporary Art, Kiasma, Helsinki
Friday 16 January 2026, 6 - 7:30pm

I’ve always had eggs in my work. It started with Two Fried Eggs and a Kebab back in the early nineties, which was the piece of work that launched me on the world. Since then I’ve tried to keep an egg in things, in most exhibitions. Eggs are relevant to women …and they are finite. They are not like sperm, you can’t just endlessly wank and spurt them everywhere. So it’s kind of about futility, not just women’s futility, futility in the world. – Sarah Lucas

Julian Simmons‘s EGG: Sarah Lucas & 750 eggs (2019-2023) documents the artist’s purchase of seven hundred and fifty free-range eggs and the series of performative rituals involving the procured produce that follow.

After the film screening, there will be an artist talk held remotely. Entry with the same day’s museum ticket.

Duration of the film: 57 min.
