Florian Hecker (b. 1975, Augsburg, Germany) lives and works in Funchal, Portugal. Hecker works with synthetic sound across performance, installation, and publications, exploring compositional developments in post-war modernity, audiology, and psychoacoustical knowledge. He studied Computational Linguistics and Psycholinguistics at Ludwig Maximilian Universität, Munich and Fine Arts at the Akademie der Bildenden Künste, Vienna, where he received his diploma. He has been a Chancellor’s Fellow at Edinburgh College of Art since September 2014.
